Scrub a dub dub!

I am going to talk a little bit about exfoliation for your skin. It is something important that many people leave out of their routine. I bet most of you have some sort of scrub at home collecting dust in your bathroom, start using it! There are so many great benefits to exfoliating. It is a vital tool to help you rejuvenate and refine your skin’s texture. It’s going to keep your skin youthful, and it will allow the other products that you spend a lot of money on, to absorb and work better

Benefits of ExfoliationExfoliation-Warning-Signs-Main

  • Detoxes the skin
  • Prevents ingrown hair
  • Manages “chicken skin”
  • Brightens
  • Removes dead, dull cells
  • Reduces fine lines and sun damage
  • Improves tone
  • Kills bacteria and prevents breakouts and blackheads
  • Improves product penetration and treatment results

There are a few different ways to buff that nasty dead skin away from your body and face. Be wise not to use a body scrub on your more delicate face, you might end up looking like you have road rash! Your body naturally sheds old dry skin cells on a regular basis to reveal new younger skin underneath, this process slows down as we age and also with overexposure to sun. To help give your ever aging skin a push in the right direction, you have to exfoliate at least once a week, but you may do it up to three times a week if your skin is not to sensitive or thin. For the body I prefer sugar or salt scrubs as opposed to “nut” scrubs. These scrubs are creamier and contain crushed shells of various nuts, the shell particles can scratch the skin and sometimes become lodged in larger pores. You can also use abrasive mitts and loofahs along with body brushes that have natural bristles. All of these options are fantastic at removing the dry scaly stuff and increasing your circulation. More circulation means healthy blood flow, increased oxygen, less dark circles and removal of toxins to aid in healing!

My favorite body scrub is Hempz herbal sugar scrub.scrub

Hempz has a rich blend of jojoba seed oil, sunflower seed oil and aloe vera extract to revive skin leaving it hydrated, nourished and conditioned. It comes in a variety of delicious scents and matching lotions! Enriched with 100% pure natural hemp seed oil, paraben-free, gluten-free, 100% vegan, and THC drug free. You will get a glow but not a high!

My go to facial scrub is Dermalogica’s multivitamin thermafoliant.multivitamin thermafoliant 2.5

Unique thermal technology activates upon contact to drive beneficial ingredients into skin. A fine mineral powder blend polishes to help minimize fine lines. Lactic Acid and salicylic acid exfoliate for an instantly smooth surface. Vitamins A, C, and E help reverse the signs of aging, stimulate collagen and smooth.

Nay’s tip for exfoliating at home: Use your scrub on dry skin, it works better!Use it on your pits! It will make waxing/shaving better and get rid of deodorant build up. For those of you that have dry chapped lips like me…..scrub those puppies too!
